Ya todos sabéis que la serpiente es uno de los símbolos más asociados a la figura de LILITH. Aquí un texto perteneciente al «Poema Babilónico de la Creación»
El origen de todo, «cuando en lo alto» el cielo y la tierra aún no tenían nombre, nada existía excepto un caos acuático (principio cósmico) o aguas primordiales, de cuya masa se aislaron dos principios elementales denominados Apsú (Océano primordial) y Tiamat (Mar tumultuoso), de cuyo mezclado oleaje salieron en primer lugar el mensajero Mummu (nubes, vapor, tumulto del oleaje) y dos espantosas serpientes divinas: Lajmu y Lajamu, las cuales originaron, a su vez\ Ansar (el horizonte celeste) y a Kisar (el horizonte terrestre). De esta pareja nacen los grandes dioses ( Anu y Nudimmud (Ea) y las demás divinidades (Igigi, Anunnaki), esparcidas por cielos, tierra y mundo inferior»

The origin of everything, «when on high» the sky and the earth still had no name, nothing existed except an aquatic chaos (cosmic principle) or primordial waters, from whose mass were isolated two elementary principles called Apsu (primordial Ocean) and Tiamat (tumultuous sea), from whose mixed waves first came the messenger Mummu (clouds, steam, tumult of the waves) and two dreadful divine serpents: Lajmu and Lajamu, which originated, in turn \ Ansar (the celestial horizon) and Kisar (the terrestrial horizon). From this pair are born the great gods (Anu and Nudimmud (Ea) and the other divinities (Igigi, Anunnaki), scattered by skies, earth and lower world »
